The Project Runway star, Korto Momolu, will launch the Community Artists’ Collective’s Annual Ashé Holiday Market with a trunk show December 7 and 8 at The Collective, 4101 San Jacinto, Suite 116.
Inspired by her African roots, Liberian-born designer and stylist Momolu has been highlighted in the “Top 5 Designers to Watch” in New York City this season. She is stamping her global brand on women’s wear and accessories that celebrate the essence of her rich heritage through the use of traditional luxury fabrics, skins, mixed prints, etc.
A preview of the trunk show will be open Friday, December 7, from noon until 8 p.m.
On Saturday the program kicks off at 12 noon with a blessing of the runway floor, a Liberian ritual dance, followed by the fashion show of Momolu’s fashion-forward designs and accessories.
In addition to Momolu’s creations, local artists Joan Bristow, Elizabeth Montgomery Shelton, Leslie Abrams, Dr. Rhea Lawson, Robbie Lee and others offer their artistic creations of clothing, jewelry, art and unique crafts for sale.
The trunk show is produced by Merian T. Sherrod, Amaris Simone, the Art of Living.
