Cranes, Crowns & Scales

  • Project Row Houses 2521 Holman Street Houston, TX, 77004 United States (map)

An interactive workshop inviting communities fuse the inspiration of Black music and the medium of visual art to claim, develop and tell their stories. Inspired by Solange Knowles’s iconic and powerful album,A Seat at the Table(2016), the workshops were created by the 800 Collective to provide a space and process for participants to create their own journals while experiencing and discussing the music. Through the process, we'll explore how the legacy of music might work as a creative tool for self-actualization and empowerment for artists, listeners and our community. The workshops are designed to inspire participants to develop work that might be exhibited to the community, as done in 800 Collective's collaboration with TILA.
