Celebrate Black Music Month at The Collective

The Community Artists’ Collective and the Community Music Center of Houston to will present their second annual “Legacy Project” recognizing contributors to the Black Music Experience with a reception and art exhibition Saturday, June 10, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., at The Collective, 4101 San Jacinto at Cleburne, Suite 116.

The reception will honor Betty Parker, a violinist with the Scott Joplin Chamber Orchestra and retired music educator, and feature works by artists Shawn Artis, Mack L. Bishop II, Dominic Clay, Carolyn Crump, Leonard Freeman, Alton Shelvin and Charles Washington.  The CMCH Ensemble will perform.

The exhibition will be available for viewing through July 1.

The Collective is open during the exhibition Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12 noon until 5 p.m. and by appointment.
